Workshop Resin Workshop
Resin Workshop
Build a practical resin-printing area and a repeatable workflow across the machines and workspace.
Current state
A garage resin-printing workspace in progress: both printers are in the tent, while the exhaust and wash-and-cure workflow remain unfinished.
Next actionRerun the full-screen exposure test over a sheet of white paper to check what may be a line on the left side of the Saturn's LCD, then try a first useful print.

What this project tracks
- Finish and document the garage workspace and exhaust.
- Move the Saturn from its first successful calibration print to useful prints.
- Diagnose the Wash & Cure station and establish a cleanup workflow; resin-contaminated waste goes in a clear bag to cure fully before it goes in the trash, Dirty IPA gets cleaned and reused; I haven't decided how to dispose of it or liquid resin once it's spent, and will hold both until I confirm local disposal rules.
- Once the standing desk puts the Photon P1 within reach of power, confirm it still works and record first-print results.
Equipment and setup
- AC Infinity CLOUDLAB 866, 5 × 5 ft tent (assembled in the garage; no functioning exhaust installed)
- Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 12K (vat and build plate installed; Wi-Fi set up; exposure test on October 18 and calibration prints on October 19, 2026; a test mini, Puck the Adventurer, failed afterward because debris was left in the vat, then reprinted cleanly at 2.0 s)
- Anycubic Photon P1 (in the tent; worked at pickup, not powered on since; no prints yet; its power cord won't reach the tent's overhead power until the taller standing desk is in)
- Anycubic Wash & Cure 3 Max (powers on; function unconfirmed; cured resin in its lines)
- AC Infinity CLOUDLINE T4 4-inch inline fan for the exhaust (on hand with its temperature sensor in use; ductwork not set up)
- Fungdo resin curing enclosure (used to cure the October 18 exposure test pieces)
- SUNLU ABS-Like Dark Grey resin (used for the exposure test and calibration prints)
- Temporary folding table with plastic covering and a plastic floor liner; a standing desk is still planned
- Braun 5500 lumen, 4 ft LED shop light installed; an LED light that shouldn't put out meaningful UV, though its output hasn't been measured
- A space heater in the tent for the cold months, paired with the CLOUDLINE T4 controller's temperature sensor so I'm not guessing whether the tent is warm enough to print. That's a stopgap: long term, I plan to heat just the inside of the printer, not the whole tent. The Saturn already has an ELEGOO Mini Heater mounted inside, but it came without its power cord
Open problems
- The tent has no functioning exhaust yet, and the wash station has not been diagnosed.
- The standing desk and cleanup workflow are unfinished.
- The Saturn passed its calibration prints, and a test mini reprinted cleanly after a failed first try, but a first LCD check may show a line on the left side and is being rerun; the Photon P1 has not printed in this workspace.
Project notes
The resin setup came together through a trade on October 8, 2026: Pam, my Prusa MK4S, for an Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra and an Anycubic Photon P1. Both machines are now in the garage tent. After an exposure test on October 18, the Saturn produced a successful calibration print on October 19, 2026: a Cones of Calibration v3 in SUNLU ABS-Like Dark Grey. A test mini right after it failed because debris was left in the vat; the reprint came out clean. The Photon P1 has not printed in this workspace yet. The Saturn 4 Ultra project page tracks that machine in more detail.
The tent is assembled, with a plastic-covered folding table, a plastic floor liner, and the Braun shop light in place. The folding table is temporary; a standing desk is still planned. I have not installed a functioning exhaust or confirmed that the Wash & Cure station works. The liner clips haven't moved so far. I haven't measured the light output.
I am documenting the workspace before calling it ready. The Build Log keeps the dated sequence, including my choice to start printing before the exhaust is finished. That is my current plan, not a tested or recommended setup; the log records the limitations and what still needs checking. The Coming Soon guide will remain unfinished until I have used and tested the workflow.
